We all remember the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires where our late SportAccord/GAISF President and IOC member, Secretary General of the International Basketball Federation and above all, a true visionary and friend of sport, left us far to early.
We all have witnessed, the amazing 3×3 Basketball competition at the Tokyo Olympic Games and we all know, as we say, “This was Patrick’s Baby.” – something he was so passionate about for the athletes, for the excitement, for the urban world, a sport for all.
His spirit lived on and the world of Basketball and FIBA can be so proud. We have seen the amazing Festival atmosphere at our last Urban Games in Budapest and you could see the Who’s, Who sitting ringside in Tokyo including the First Lady of the United States, the French and Polish Presidents and we all know that 3×3 definitely is here to stay. We remember Patrick’s words, “3×3 from the streets to the Olympics.”
