IPF

The International Powerlifting Federation is the governing body for powerlifting internationally. The IPF is comprised of member federations on six continents. The IPF is a founding member of the International World Games Association (IWGA) and is also a full member of SportAccord and the Association of International Reognised Members of Sport (AIMS).

The powerlifting athlete compete in three specific disciplines; the Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift – each designed to measure different aspects of human strength, with the largest lift, in each of discipline counting towards the athlete’s overall total. Powerlifting athletes compete not only against the weight, but each other in seven weight classes for women and eight weight classes for men, for the title of strongest of man or women in each of the disciplines and the overall total. The International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) elevates the sport of powerlifting to a position of respect in world sport by providing high quality competitive opportunities on every continent from the local to world level, encompassing a WADA compliant sporting environment and an unwavering commitment to the Olympic Ideals.
