After 12 days of outstanding competitions, on Sunday it ended. The Tokyo Paralympics 2020 closed in celebration of an inspirational grand finale.

IPC President, Andrew Parson made an emotional closing speech stating, “The games have not just been historic, they have been fantastic.” He continued, “What a journey, what a sport, what a game, what more can I say than: Arigato, Tokyo. Together against the odds we did it. It was an unforgettable event. The athletes warmed all our hearts and opened our minds, they changed lives, they broke records.”

ANAS AL Khalifa of the Paralympics refugee team led the parade of the athletes with the IPC flag. All the flag bearers proudly appeared on the field in the city where differences shine. As the flag has been lowered the world already stands in excitement as the Paris Mayor, Anne Hidalgo has now been entrusted to carry the flag to Paris. We are looking forward to the celebration of sport and the inspirational power of the para-athletes for Paris 2024.
