It is with deep sorrow that AIMS has learnt of the death of Mr. Manfred Schäfer at the age of 77.
Mr. Schäfer was long standing president of the International Federation Icestocksports from 1999- 2020. Only last month IFI celebrated full recognition by the International Olympic Committee which was Mr. Schäfer’s life achievement and pride.
AIMS President Mr. Stephan Fox stated, “Not only the world of icestock owes Manfred its deepest gratitude. He was an AIMS founding member and also a key player for the AIMS recognition by the IOC. His achievement goes far beyond his beloved sport of icestock and IFI. Manfred will always be remembered for his love for sports, sense of humour and always working for something larger than himself.”
AIMS expresses it deepest sympathy to Mr. Schäfer’s family, his wife Monika and the IFI family. As a mark of respect, the AIMS flag will be flown at half mast at the AIMS headquarter.
