Jörn Verleger the President of the International Fistball Association (IFA) represented the AIMS family in the great honour of meeting the Holy Father Pope Francis at the Vatican.

The Vatican hosted the International Summit on Sport in which around 150 leaders from major sports and intergovernmental organisations came together to sign a new declaration to foster inclusion and access to sport for all.

The IFA President was part of a selective delegation led by the distinguished IOC President Thomas Bach, IPC President Andrew Parsons, President of the Olympic Committee of Italy Mr. Malago and the President of GAISF/SportAccord Mr. Ivo Ferriani. The IOC President outlined that faith and sport shares many of the same values, guiding us to live together in peace with our fellow human beings.

Mr. Verleger stated that everyone was truly inspired by His Holiness’s support and affection for refugees. He further expressed his joy in the meeting with the Pope, stating that he took a lot of his valuable time to speak to the delegates, greeting them in all the different languages. The IFA President had the chance to thank His Holiness on behalf of IFA and AIMS for his commitment to peace, solidarity and sport. Indeed, a very special moment.
