The AIMS President, Stephan Fox, recently attended the second qualifiers of the Boxing Tournament held at the Indoor Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. This significant event marked the final opportunity for boxers to secure their places at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

At the 2nd World Qualification Tournament, the last 51 quota places for the Paris 2024 Olympics were awarded. This included 23 women and 28 men who successfully qualified across 13 weight categories. The tournament saw participation from 578 male and female boxers representing 132 National Olympic Committees, as well as the Boxing Refugee Team, effectively concluding the sport’s Road to Paris.

Both the Boxing Road to Paris qualification series and the Olympic Games Paris 2024 boxing tournament are sanctioned and organized under the authority of the IOC Paris 2024 Boxing Unit (PBU). AIMS President Stephan Fox congratulated the organizers on a successful event.

The Boxing Tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is scheduled to run from July 27th through August 10th, featuring 13 weight categories (seven men’s and six women’s). The preliminary phases and first semi-finals will take place at the North Paris Arena from July 27th to August 4th. The final phases, including all gold medal matches, will be hosted at the Roland-Garros Stadium from August 6th to August 10th.

In his address, Stephan Fox congratulated Breno Pontes, PBU Head of Boxing Operations at the IOC with successful conclusion of qualifying event for boxing and extended special thanks to the President of the Thailand Boxing Association, Deputy Prime Minister Pichai Chunhavajira. He also expressed his gratitude to Mrs. Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, the IOC Member from Thailand, for their unwavering support and contributions to the success of the event.
