AIMS President, Stephan Fox addressed all the AIMS members, reflecting on an important year behind with the GAISF decision to dissolve the organisation and for AIMS to become a stakeholder in the restructured SportAccord.
The AIMS President stated that this was a long process, with a long evaluation done by the GAISF council, the AIMS council, the AIMS Extraordinary General Assembly and then the GAISF Extraordinary General Assembly in late November.
The new governance structure will see the AIMS family together with the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF), and the Association of IOC Recognised International Sport Federations (ARISF) as members of SportAccord.
AIMS also established commissions for the benefit of the AIMS members and to work even closer with the IOC, WADA and the new SportAccord.
The AIMS council worked closely in solidarity and this positive momentum will be carried on into the new year.
