The 2024 Women’s Fistball World Championship kicked off on November 6 at Club Guatambú in Argentina, running from November 7 to 10. Eleven nations are competing, bringing women’s fistball back to its origins—the first championship was held in Buenos Aires in 1994.
Defending champions Germany lead Group A, alongside Switzerland, Brazil, and Austria. Group B features Argentina, Chile, New Zealand, and Australia, while Group C includes Namibia, the USA, and Colombia. Following the preliminary rounds, teams will advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday, with the final scheduled for Sunday, November 10. This event also serves as a qualifier for the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China.
Club Guatambú is hosting a Fistball World Championship for the first time. Secretary of the Fistball Committee, Laura Laumann, expressed the club’s excitement for this landmark event. Organizers have also arranged a diverse program for spectators, including two Schools Days, and all matches will be live-streamed on www.fistball.TV.
