Every 16th of November is the International Day for Tolerance and certainly this day was a special day at the UTS Festival.
The event opened with a beautiful performance of the Thai Paralympic moment with a wheelchair dance and Thai youth musician Pakin with a beautiful saxophone solo.
The world leaders, athletes and advocates stood together with a united call to action toward more tolerance and understanding. The event opened with a beautiful speech by UNESCO Director General Gabriela Ramos. Peace Nobel Prize winner professor Mohammed Yunus. Her Excellency Ms. Lachezara Stoeva the President of ECOSOE, President of FISU President Leonz Ede Dr, Kim Encel from UNESCO, Dr Choue, President of the World Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation. The 2 keynote speakers were the IOC member MS. Samira Asghari and President and CEO of Present and Future Institute and former Permanent Representative and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Grenada to the United Nations in New York, H.E. Keisha A. McGuire, Esq. It was then that the UTS youth ambassadors panel came together with a focus on tolerance building from generation to generation, with Sarah Schumacher, Leila Malki, Ezra Frech, Husnah Kukundakwe with a unified message which was no doubt one of the highlights of the day.
The day continued with the sports challenges, unity in diversity where all the youth ambassadors participated with a different perspective using different abilities playing wheelchair basketball, deaf futsal and para fencing. It was an amazing day and we must thank each and every one contributing, promoting tolerance and acceptance.
