From 13–15 June 2025, the world’s top adventure golfers gathered in Askim, Sweden, for the 2025 World Adventure Golf Masters (WAGM), delivering a weekend of exceptional competition, dramatic playoffs, and vibrant international camaraderie. Hosted at Askims BGK for the first time since 2019, the tournament welcomed over 100 athletes from 14 countries, competing across individual, team, and mixed pair categories.
The event began with six rounds of stroke play to determine team standings and finalists for mixed pairs, followed by a final round and super final for individual rankings. In total, seven categories required sudden-death playoffs to decide medal positions, underscoring the competitiveness of the field and the high level of performance across the board.
Sweden dominated the team competition, with Sweden 1 taking gold by nine strokes, led by standout performer Erik Hjalmarsson. Finland 1 claimed silver, while Sweden 2 completed the podium. Hjalmarsson also made headlines by tying the course record with a score of 21 and went on to win the General Class Men’s division and overall individual title.
Among the weekend’s memorable moments:
- Vanette Block of the United States earned her second WAGM gold in the Female Seniors category, holding off a late surge from Sweden’s Jessica Rosén.
- Jens Bergström of Sweden clinched Male Seniors gold after a tight playoff against Finland’s Tom Ahlberg.
- Rebecka Johansson and Isabell Möller battled in an all-Swedish Female Youth final, with Johansson prevailing in a flawless four-hole playoff.
- In the Male Youth division, Oliver Mäntylä of Finland added gold to his team silver, while Carl Elfström of Sweden claimed silver after a playoff win.
- Jenny Erlandsson of Sweden won the General Class Women’s title in a one-hole playoff against Wilma Harrysson.
- In Mixed Pairs, it was Austria’s Angelika Heyl and Christian Gobetz who edged out the Swedish teams, with Gobetz clinching gold on the final hole.
The tournament concluded with the Mixed Pairs final, featuring 15 teams from six nations. The alternate-shot format produced high drama, and Sweden once again placed multiple teams on the podium. Erik Hjalmarsson finished the event with an impressive three golds and one silver, establishing himself as one of the tournament’s top athletes.
