AIMS President, Stephan Fox, thanking the IOC and IOC Sport Director, Kit McConnell in Tokyo

Three members of the Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport (AIMS), Federation Internationale de Sambo (FIAS), Federation of International Lacrosse (FILx) and World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO, have been granted provisional recognition during the IOC Executive Board meeting in Tokyo, Japan, on 30 November 2018.

The Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) would like to congratulate the three Federations for this achievement, as well as AIMS for their continued support of its members. Within sport, goals are only achieved with strong effort, and this news proves once again that hard work, resilience, determination and patience pay off.

The three Federations will now act as an example for all of AIMS members. This recognition proves that the cooperation between GAISF, ARISF and AIMS is only growing stronger, thus enhancing the promotion of Olympic values and principles and helping individual Federations develop on and off the field.

First Vice President of GAISF and President of ARISF Raffaele Chiulli, said: “It is fantastic to see these three Federations gain the recognition they worked so hard for in the past years. It highlights to all our members the importance of dedication and cooperation amongst IOC, GAISF, ARISF and AIMS. I would like to thank IOC President Dr. Thomas Bach, the IOC Executive Board, IOC Sports Director Mr. Kit McConnel for their ongoing support, as well as AIMS President Stephan Fox for his tireless work. The IOC has been exemplary in allowing our members to grow and so I would like to thank them for the continued support over the years. We look forward to enhancing our relationship in the years to come.”

Moving forward, GAISF wishes success to the three Federations and encourage the other AIMS members to pick up the pace and strive for further recognition. As ever, GAISF and AIMS will continue to work together to support and develop its members using the fantastic collaboration it has with the IOC. Once again, this proves how important the cooperation between GAISF and AIMS is for federations within the Olympic world.
