The Saudi Games 2024 officially kicked off in a grand ceremony opened by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, the Saudi Minister of Sports and Chairman of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee. The event is being held under the esteemed patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, highlighting the national significance of the games and their alignment with the Kingdom’s ambitious Vision 2030.

The opening ceremony, which took place at the iconic Boulevard City in Riyadh, was a spectacle of both tradition and modernity. A high-profile guest list, including Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, members of the Saudi Royal Family, government officials, International Olympic Committee members, and Presidents of various International Federations, graced the occasion. The event featured a captivating blend of Saudi cultural performances and contemporary artistic expressions, with live performances by celebrated Saudi singers Arwa and Abdulwahab. A breathtaking fireworks display lit up the night sky, adding to the excitement and grandeur of the ceremony.

As the Kingdom’s largest-ever multi-sport event, the Saudi Games 2024 features over 6,000 athletes competing across more than 200 sporting events. The games span a wide range of disciplines, from mainstream sports like athletics, swimming, and basketball to culturally significant competitions such as archery and camel racing. This wide variety of sports reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fostering an active lifestyle among its citizens and promoting the Kingdom as a global sports hub.
