The World Youth Championship (for athletes aged 15, 16 and 17 years) and the World Youth Cup (for athletes aged 13 & 14 year old) in Savate Assaut were held in the Sports Centre in Ruma, on the 2nd and 3rd July 2021. Organized by the Savate Association of Serbia and the Savate “Ruma” Boxing Club, the event was sponsored by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia and the Municipality of Ruma.
Despite the Covid-related travel restrictions, 134 competitors from 15 countries, registered for the event. Unfortunately, the Madagascar team did not get visas, so 14 countries participated. The competition took place on three rings, over two days, and the Assauts were broadcast via Live Stream, now available on the Youtube channel SavateTV.
The most successful team was the national team of Serbia with a total of 15 gold, 12 silver and 10 bronze medals. Clement Donna (BEL) and Jelena Radojčin (SRB) were named the most successful athletes in the World Cup. Zalan Fargo (HUN) and Anastasija Ikonić (SRB) were named the most successful athletes of the World Championship. The Medal Ceremony was accompanied by fireworks and smoke effects to give an exciting atmosphere for the young athletes.
Thank you to all who made this such a great event – the athletes, coaches, officials, competitions managers, volunteers and, of course, Miodrag Rakic and his team.
