The seaside district of Ostia, Rome, played host to a vibrant celebration of sport, culture, and international friendship as the Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF) held the Grand Prix and Mediterranean Open 2025. More than a competition, the event served as a unique platform to unite athletes, officials, and communities around shared values of discipline, respect, and cross-cultural exchange.

The opening ceremony welcomed participants with a spirit of inclusion, setting the tone for the days ahead. Under the Mediterranean sun, athletes and spectators from across the globe gathered to celebrate the growing international footprint of Ju-Jitsu. The event reinforced the unifying potential of martial arts and sport more broadly—bridging continents and traditions.

Hosted along the shores of Ostia, the venue offered a fitting mix of historic ambiance and modern energy. Over 3,000 athletes, coaches, referees, and cultural delegates took part, representing a broad cross-section of the global Ju-Jitsu family. The competition featured JJIF’s four main disciplines: Fighting, Show, Duo, and Ne-waza—each showcasing the technical precision, artistic depth, and sporting spirit that define the practice.

Beyond the competition, the event featured a cultural program supported by the City of Rome’s arts and entertainment department. Attendees were treated to live music, regional cuisine, and traditional performances that created a festival atmosphere and highlighted Italy’s distinctive hospitality.

Importantly, the Grand Prix served as a key ranking event on the road to the JJIF World Championships and The World Games 2025 in Chengdu. For many athletes, performances in Rome marked a milestone in their qualification journeys.
