The 31st FISU World University Games have officially opened at Dong’an Lake Sports, in the beautiful Chinese metropolis of Chengdu.
The sporting world turned their eyes and attention to China, where the youth of the world came together in unity and diversity. The colorful opening ceremony came to life with 113 university sports delegations, and China, boasting the biggest delegation with over 400 athletes from more that 100 universities.
The President of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping, was proudly in attendance when the Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng and the Acting-President of FISU Leonz Eder welcomed the youth of the world, and watched a spectacular show from students to students.
The AIMS family has sent their well wishes to the university athletes of the world and is looking forward to a week of embracing the FISU motto of ‘excellence in mind and body.’
