As a proud member of AIMS, the World Darts Federation (WDF) continues to expand its global reach, with the Faroe Islands set to host the 2026 WDF Europe Cup following a recent vote by European member nations.
The Faroe Islands, a relatively new member of the WDF, made their Europe Cup debut in 2022 and their World Cup debut in 2023. Despite their short history in the competition, they have demonstrated strong organizational capabilities and significant growth in the sport. Their compelling bid secured a narrow victory over Hungary, affirming their commitment to developing darts in the region.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from September 29 to October 3, 2026, at the Við Tjarnir facility in the capital city, Tórshavn. This marks a major milestone as it will be the first WDF Europe Cup held in Scandinavia since 2008. The competition, which first took place in 1978 in Copenhagen, Denmark, continues to highlight the growth and inclusivity of darts across Europe.
The most recent edition, the 2024 WDF Europe Cup, was hosted in Šamorín, Slovakia, with Gold medals claimed by the Netherlands, Sweden, and the Republic of Ireland.
AIMS congratulates the Faroe Islands Darts Federation and the WDF on this significant achievement and looks forward to another exciting edition of the WDF Europe Cup, reinforcing the values of fair play, development, and international sporting excellence.
