IDBF President Joins Blessing Ceremony Ahead of Major Global Event

Hong Kong – The energy is rising as the Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races officially begin tomorrow, 7–8 June, in the dynamic setting of Tsim Sha Tsui. Recognized as the home of modern dragon boat racing, Hong Kong once again welcomes top teams and spectators from around the world to celebrate speed, tradition, and teamwork on the water.

In a spirited show of support, International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) President Claudio Schermi took part in the traditional blessing ceremony today, wishing all race officials, team managers, and athletes the best of luck in the thrilling competition ahead.

President Schermi is joined in Hong Kong by IDBF Treasurer Loretta Lewis and Marketing & Media representative Belinda Chung, with the full IDBF delegation expressing pride in being part of one of the sport’s most iconic events.

“Hong Kong is not only the birthplace of the modern era of dragon boat racing, but also a vibrant symbol of the sport’s global unity,” said President Schermi. “We are honored to support this incredible event and the passionate community behind it.”

The two-day spectacle will feature elite racing, cultural festivities, and an electrifying atmosphere along Victoria Harbour – celebrating both athletic excellence and the heritage of dragon boating.
