AIMS is a platform that accompanies federations in their desire to be recognised by the IOC. Their relationship spans 60 years and the goal remains the same: to empower athletes and strengthen federations to participate in the Olympic Games.

The Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport (AIMS) is the gateway to the Olympic pyramid as it serves as a preliminary instrument responsible for preparing the ground for admission into the family of the Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF).

This process provides a platform for federations to achieve global status and aspire to participate in the Summer or Winter Olympic Games, fully integrating them into the international sports framework.

The joint efforts of AIMS and ARISF reflect a shared mission to improve opportunities for athletes and, more importantly, to improve federations on their path to Olympic recognition.

The organisations uphold core values that place the athlete at the centre of every decision. Joint Council meetings between IOC-recognised federations and AIMS members provide a unified platform to address challenges and explore solutions. Integrity, fair play and clean sport are guaranteed as these principles are non-negotiable for each federation.

Recognising the unique challenges faced by smaller federations, AIMS and ARISF have prioritised strategic alliances with organisations such as the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)and the International Testing Agency (ITA). These collaborations aim to provide federations with the necessary tools and resources to maintain clean sport while managing the growth of their disciplines.

Driving this vision are Raffaele Chiulli, President of ARISF, and Stephan Fox, President of AIMS. Together they lead a coalition of more than 60 international federations. “Cooperation between all members of the sports family, whether recognised or not, is essential for growth and development,” says Chiulli.

Fox, for his part, highlighted the innovative and inspirational power of the partnership between the two federations. “AIMS is an essential entry point to the sporting pyramid and our partnership underlines the transformative power of unity,” the official explains. 

Beyond their fundamental collaboration with the IOC, AIMS and ARISF share a broader vision: to support federations and athletes in overcoming challenges.
