AIMS took part in the XXVII ANOC General Assembly held in Cascais, Portugal

Representing AIMS, which holds official recognition by the International Olympic Committee as an umbrella organization, AIMS President Stephan Fox also attended in his role as a SportAccord Executive Board Member, furthering AIMS’ active engagement within the Olympic community.

The ANOC General Assembly brought together over 850 delegates from 288 organizations, reinforcing its role as a pivotal gathering for global sports leaders. The opening ceremony included welcome addresses by José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, President of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic, Cascais Mayor Carlos Carreira, ANOC President Robin Mitchell, IOC President Thomas Bach, and Portuguese NOC President Artur Lopes.

IOC President Thomas Bach delivered his final keynote speech, underscoring the Olympic Movement’s mission to foster peace and unity in a world facing significant challenges. His address was followed by reports from ANOC President Robin Mitchell and Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg. Delegates also received key updates on the Paris 2024 Olympics, progress with the Los Angeles 2028 Organizing Committee, and significant topics such as anti-doping.

The General Assembly agenda covered comprehensive updates from ANOC Commissions, including progress on the ANOC Strategic Plan, sustainability initiatives, and the ANOC Digital Accelerator Program. A special session highlighted new commercial sponsorships aimed at benefiting NOCs. The IOC also provided essential information on Olympic Solidarity funding for the upcoming quadrennial starting in 2025. Presentations were delivered by the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games and Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committees.

Throughout the Assembly, AIMS President Stephan Fox engaged with several National Olympic Committees to discuss important topics, reinforcing AIMS’ cooperation with the Olympic Movement and its commitment to advancing shared goals.
