AIMS President Stephan Fox recently took part in the 142nd International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session held in Paris. This significant event saw key decisions and elections that will shape the future of the Olympic movement.

One of the highlights was the election of two new IOC Vice-Presidents, Ms. Nawal El Moutawakel from Morocco and Dr. Gerardo Werthein from Argentina, who will begin their terms on August 10th. They succeed Mr. John Coates from Australia and Mr. Ser Miang Ng from Singapore. Additionally, the session welcomed eight new IOC Members, including four women and four men, furthering the IOC’s commitment to gender equality and Olympian representation.

The historic election of Salt Lake City-Utah as the host of the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and the French Alps for the 2030 Winter Games. These decisions mark crucial steps in ensuring the continued excitement and global reach of the Winter Games.
