AIMS commends Riyadh 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games for advancing unity and inclusion

The Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport (AIMS) congratulates the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA) on the successful opening of the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games Riyadh 2025, a landmark gathering of 57 nations held under the theme “One Nation – Shared Vision.”

The opening ceremony at King Fahd International Stadium brought together athletes from across the Islamic world, joined by leaders of sport, culture, and government — including AIMS President Stephan Fox — in a powerful celebration of friendship, respect, and solidarity through sport. The Games were officially declared open by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of Riyadh, representing the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Kingdom’s leadership.

AIMS commends the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Sport, and the Local Organising Committee for delivering an event that reflects professionalism, vision, and hospitality. The seamless combination of advanced technology, cultural heritage, and artistic expression showcased the Kingdom’s growing capacity to host major international sporting events.

“Riyadh 2025 is more than a Games — it is a statement of unity and inclusion, reflecting the values we all share in sport and society,” said AIMS President Stephan Fox. The inclusion of para-sport competitions within the main programme marks an important step forward, reinforcing the Games’ commitment to opportunity and accessibility for all athletes. More than 3,500 competitors from 57 nations are participating across a wide range of disciplines — from traditional sports to new and emerging events — reflecting the depth and dynamism of the Islamic sporting community. “Every athlete here carries a message of hope — that through determination and respect, barriers can be overcome,” added Fox.

Aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, Riyadh 2025 highlights the Kingdom’s growing role in youth engagement, inclusion, and sustainable development. AIMS recognises the continued efforts of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal and the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association for fostering cooperation and dialogue through sport across nations. The Games’ success underscores the importance of international collaboration in delivering impactful multi-sport events that unite cultures and promote mutual understanding.

AIMS extends its sincere congratulations to all athletes, organisers, and volunteers whose dedication and professionalism made Riyadh 2025 a true celebration of excellence, diversity, and the shared values that connect the global sporting community.
