AIMS attends the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) 2025 Annual Symposium, which opened yesterday in Lausanne, Switzerland. The two-day gathering is bringing together nearly 1,000 stakeholders from across the global anti-doping community under the theme “Going Further Together”, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in the fight for clean sport.
The event began with a keynote address by WADA President Witold Bańka, who reflected on the agency’s 25th anniversary, highlighting the progress made through partnerships between sport organizations and governments. He also addressed key challenges facing the anti-doping movement, including contamination in testing and the need for regulatory updates to the World Anti-Doping Code. Bańka also strongly condemned the so-called Enhanced Games, an initiative promoting the use of banned substances in sport.

Structured around WADA’s 2025-2029 Strategic Plan, the Symposium features 15 interactive sessions focused on key anti-doping priorities, including:
-Building Stronger Partnerships – Exploring how collaboration can enhance anti-doping efforts.
-Innovations in Research – Showcasing advancements and how organizations can contribute.
-Whistleblower Protection – Discussing strategies for managing informants in doping investigations.
-Ethical Data Governance – Examining how data sharing can improve fairness and efficiency.
-Preparing for the 2027 Code – Addressing regulatory changes and athlete rights protection.
The Annual Symposium remains a key event for the global anti-doping community, bringing together International Federations, National Anti-Doping Organizations, laboratories, researchers, and policymakers to discuss the future of clean sport. AIMS’ attendance reflects its ongoing commitment to staying informed on anti-doping developments and ensuring that its member federations remain aligned with the latest standards and best practices.
