AIMS at the Africa International Sports Convention

The Alliance of Independent Recognized Members of Sport (AIMS), an IOC-recognized umbrella organization, played a central role at the Africa International Sports Convention (CISA), bringing together its member federations from across the continent.

A key highlight of AIMS’ presence at the event was its dynamic exhibition booth, organized in collaboration with United Through Sports. More than just a showcase, the booth became a lively hub for engagement, attracting young participants who eagerly took part in various sports activities. The interactive setup underscored AIMS’ commitment to fostering youth participation and inclusivity in sport.

Beyond the vibrant activities, important discussions were held with several African National Olympic Committees (NOCs), culminating in a significant meeting with Senegal’s Ministry of Sports, the Paralympic Committee, and the Special Olympics Committee. This gathering marked an important milestone as it introduced the 20 AIMS member federations to key stakeholders in African sports governance.

AIMS President Stephan Fox attended in person, delivering special presentations and presenting gratitude plaques to the National Olympic Committee of Senegal, the Special Olympics Committee, and the Paralympic Committee in recognition of their contributions to sports development. He also extended his appreciation to IOC Executive Board Member Ivo Ferriani for his ongoing support and presence at CISA, as well as to Diamil Faye, President of the CISA 2025 Organizing Committee, for his instrumental role in orchestrating an event that united nations across Africa in the shared vision of sports growth and inclusivity.

Reflecting on the convention, Fox emphasized AIMS’ ongoing mission, stating, “AIMS will continue to promote its members and, above all, the athletes of all abilities.”

The event not only reinforced AIMS’ commitment to its federations and athletes but also highlighted its expanding role in advancing sports diplomacy, youth engagement, and inclusive development across Africa.
