April 19th, 2016 was historical day for sport with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport (AIMS) in Lausanne.
AIMS was established in 2009 and is composed of IFs that are recognised by AIMS and are members of SportAccord but are not members of ASOIF, AIOWF and ARISF. By granting recognition to AIMS, the IOC acknowledges the role of AIMS and it’s valuable contribution to support the Olympic Movement in the achievement of its missions and goals; in the fields of the development of sport, promotion of sport in support of athletes. AIMS now uses a designation that recognises its relationship with the IOC in compliance with the rules set forth in the guidance provided by the IOC.
To mark this milestone and historic move in sport, AIMS has revised it’s official logo, proudly including the 5 colours of the Olympic rings. The colours are universal where at least one appears on every single flag in the world – symbolising unity through Olympism.
AIMS is looking forward to a continued close cooperation with the IOC to promote physical and sporting activities to develop society and to provide support to athletes and sporting bodies.
