Since the beginning of time, sport has played a very important role in inspiring people regardless of their divides. The enormous power of sport is one that can be used to achieve great change. Giving back to society and using the power of athletes and champions can contribute to achieve something larger than yourself. Therefore the 23 AIMS member federations signed a pledge with UN Women to combine 23 sporting federations for a united goal. The MOU was signed between Mrs Anna-Karin Jatfors, the Regional Program Manager of UNiTE to End Violence Against Women Campaign and Mrs Julie Gabriel, AIMS Executive Board member in charge of Social Responsibility and IFMA Vice President Sue Latta who head the FEM program.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by over 400 delegates from the family of sports, including representatives from IOC, IWGA, TAFISA and FISU.
