The Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport (AIMS) extends its sincere congratulations to Gennady “GGG” Golovkin on his election as President of World Boxing. An Olympic medallist, multiple-time world champion and one of the most accomplished athletes in modern boxing, Golovkin brings a deep understanding of sport, discipline and fair play to his new leadership role.
In addition to assuming the presidency of World Boxing, Golovkin also serves as President of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan. His continued involvement in the Olympic Movement reflects his longstanding commitment to athlete development, integrity in sport and international cooperation.
AIMS President Stephan Fox welcomed the news, stating:
“On behalf of the entire AIMS family, we congratulate President Gennady Golovkin. His character, professionalism and global respect as an athlete bring strong credibility to World Boxing. We look forward to continued cooperation as we work together to promote transparency, good governance and the protection of athletes across all our sports.”
World Boxing, formerly a valued member of the AIMS family, has long shared the Alliance’s key principles, including youth engagement, athlete welfare and responsible, forward-looking sport administration. Under Golovkin’s leadership, the organisation enters an important new phase aimed at strengthening trust, enhancing governance standards and supporting athletes and national federations worldwide.
AIMS also expresses its appreciation to outgoing President Boris van der Vorst for his service and dedication to the international boxing community during a challenging transitional period.
AIMS looks forward to constructive collaboration with World Boxing and to supporting President Golovkin as he guides the federation into its next chapter.
