Volker Bernardi dedicated his life to the service of sport. With passion, integrity, and a deep sense of responsibility, he stood as a leader, a sports lawyer, and an international administrator for more than two decades. Since 2011, he served as Executive Director of the World Flying Disc Federation, guiding its growth and earning the admiration of the global sporting community.

Beyond his professional achievements, Volker was a champion of values that lie at the heart of sport; fairness, inclusion, transparency, and integrity. His expertise as a lawyer and his tireless commitment to good governance left an indelible mark on countless organizations and individuals.

Volker was importantly a valued friend of AIMS. He supported our mission from the very beginning, offering wisdom, encouragement, and leadership that helped shape our movement. He contributed many times to United Through Sports events, embodying the spirit of unity and initiatives that have positively impacted youth and communities around the world.

His legacy will not only be remembered in the structures he helped build, but in the lives he touched and the example he set.

On behalf of the AIMS family, we extend our deepest condolences to his wife Silke, his family, and his loved ones. In Volker’s memory, the AIMS flag will be lowered today in gratitude and respect for a life dedicated to sport and humanity.
