As the year draws to a close, the Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport (AIMS) takes the opportunity to reflect on the remarkable progress achieved over the past twelve months.

Founded to unite international sports federations that share the core values of integrity, inclusivity, and excellence, AIMS has continued to strengthen its network, advance the interests of its member organizations, and champion the voice of emerging sports. Moving forward, AIMS remains committed to a future centered on youth participation, embracing athletes of all abilities, and fostering inclusion and equality in sport.

Strengthening Global Recognition

A key milestone this year has been AIMS’ enhanced cooperation with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the three other IOC-recognized umbrella organizations—ASOIF, AIOWF, and ARISF. Through constructive dialogue, hosting joint seminars, and active participation in key decision-making forums, AIMS solidified its credibility as a respected representative body. Its close collaboration with ARISF, the International Testing Agency (ITA), and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has underscored the alliance’s commitment to fair play, clean sport, and efficient, economically viable solutions that support its members and their athletes.

Expanding the Family of Sports

In partnership with SportAccord, AIMS new federations will soon join the family, enriching the alliance with a diverse range of disciplines—both traditional and emerging. This expansion has not only broadened AIMS’ cultural tapestry but also fostered an exchange of best practices, governance models, and sustainable growth strategies. Although united by shared principles, AIMS acknowledges that each member is unique, with its own aspirations and strengths. Together, these organizations strive for excellence within their respective sports, driving forward a collective vision of quality, innovation, and unity.

Elevating Governance Standards

Promoting governance, ethical standards, and athlete welfare remains a cornerstone of AIMS’ mission. Over the past year, the alliance intensified its educational efforts, offering training modules and workshops focused on anti-doping measures, fair play, gender equity, and counter-measures against human trafficking in sport. These initiatives have strengthened the internal frameworks of member federations, ensuring that every athlete, coach, official, and administrator operates within transparent and ethically sound environments.

Athlete-Centered Initiatives

AIMS maintained a strong athlete-first philosophy, supported by partnerships with organizations such as United Through Sports. This collaboration has elevated inclusion, non-discrimination, equality, and “sport for all” initiatives. By placing the welfare of athletes at the heart of its programs, AIMS reinforces the principle that sports exist to serve and uplift the people who dedicate their lives to them.

Forward-Looking Collaboration

Cooperation with the IOC, IPC, Special Olympics International (SOI), and a wide range of global sporting bodies remained fundamental to AIMS’ success this year. Through joint events, seminars, and strategic working groups, AIMS and its partners have developed frameworks to improve safety standards, nurture grassroots development, and expand youth opportunities. These efforts ensure that member organizations have the tools, knowledge, and resources they need to inspire the next generation of athletes, coaches, and leaders.
