AIMS Members at the World Combat Games 2023

The World Combat Games will feature a total of 16 combat sports and martial arts with ancient traditions and, for the first time, will see the inclusion of Paralympic and Special Olympic disciplines, bringing together 1700 elite combat athletes from over 80 countries. 16 sports will participate; boxing, fencing, judo, kickboxing, muaythai, sambo, sumo, taekwondo, wrestling, karate and wushu, in addition to five AIMS members aikido, arm wrestling, jujitsu, kendo and savate.

AIMS President Stephan Fox, who is also the Chair of the World Combat Games, stated that the event is very much in line with the Saudi vision 2030, promoting inclusion, non-discrimination, equality and equal sporting opportunities. Meaning that for the first time, regardless in whatever discipline you participate, you will be ending up at the same podium and in the same medal table.

Saudi’s vision 2030 is driven by His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in which sport and healthy lifestyle for all abilities plays an active role. The AIMS president further stated that changes and transformations are a result of vision 2030 and that the World Combat Games will showcase Saudi Arabia globally. The event will be a global celebration of the ancient values and traditions of martial arts and combat sports, standing together as one towards a better tomorrow.
