With the motto 3W “We Want more Women in Jujitsu” and representatives from 67 countries JJIF has discussed the ways of ju-jitsu accesability for women together with miximising the worldwide expansion of the sport.
During the meeting, the members had the opportunity to capture many ideas and, above all, to lay the foundations for the planning of the next years, which will aim to attract young women to the sport.
The congress was organized for the first time on the initiative of the head of the World Women’s Committee and president of the Hellenic Jiu Jitsu Federation, Maria Haritopoulou, who welcomed the guests. “This moment is not just a celebration. It is a testament to the strength, resilience and spirit of women in our sport. Together, we are paving the way for future generations of women in Ju-Jitsu and inspiring others to join us on the tatami” said Ms. Haritopoulou.
Joe Thumfart General manager of JJIF had a welcome speech to the congress. Speakers of the Congress were Audrey Yargui, Sports chiropractor, Evgenia Gortsila (Phd in sports science), Xenia Argetaki (Associate profesor of Athletics, Faculty of physical Education and Sports Science) and Georgios Zantiotis, (coach of the Greek Ju Jitsu Federation and TC member).
Marion Tremel also presented her research and the proposal to change the gi color to dark and received the positive vote from all countries and moves on to the board. Virginia Mendes, the first lady of the state of Mato Grosso / Brazil attended the JJIF Womens Congress with her entourage. As a big supporter of Para Ju-Jitsu and the empowerment of women trough sports she recognizes the work of JJIF in these fields as best practice.
